Unique artwork on wood panel 11.5x15 cm with ash, pigments, plaster and pumice stone. Contemporary mixed media art. Natural textures and memory layers.
Layers of memory and natural textures
The surface is constructed through the addition and subtraction of layers: ash—a residue that is both the end and the beginning—, gypsum that provides density and opacity, and pumice stone that creates tactile and luminous contrasts. The pigments modulate the chromatic intensity without losing the material's restraint.
Each layer, applied, sanded, and eroded, reveals a geological terrain where the material retains traces of its natural history. Pumice, born of volcanic fire, engages in a dialogue with ash in a language of transformation and permanence.
Intimate format and sculptural presence
Despite its small size (11.5 x 15 cm), the work possesses a presence that transcends the two-dimensional surface. The reliefs and depressions create an emotional topography that reacts to the light. Under different lighting conditions, the work paints itself before the viewer's eyes.
A piece rooted in the tradition of material-based informalism, where the active surface becomes an interior geography, an intimate landscape without defined boundaries. The material does not illustrate: it is the language and the meaning.
